Club FAQs
-
When is practice?
Practice days are every Tuesday at Hurricane Field 2 and Thursday at Hurricane Field 5 from 7pm–9pm.
We also have indoor training days at D-BATs once-a-month, which require a monthy membership.
Note that some Holidays or personal events may impact our scheduled dates and availability. Rest assure if any changes are made we will notify you in advance.
-
What to bring?
Come prepared and with a respectful attitude. If it's going to be cold please dress warm or layer up and bring your glove, preferred gear/equipment, athletic pants, long socks, cleats, and plenty of water (especially as the weather transitions).
Otherwise we'll provide helmets, bats, balls, and various training equipment.
-
What age groups?
Our primary focus is 13U followed by 10U-12U. The plan is to organize teams that will carry forward a discipline of effort, attitude and teamwork. We want these kids to love the game baseball and most of all, gain value from its process of failure and improvement.
-
How much does it cost?
We do not charge any club fees. Instead, we transparently communicate funds from parents to cover each player's:
- Tournament fees (~$80 p/event)
- Custom uniforms (~$150 p/year)
- Custom team bags (~$250)
- D-BAT membership ($40-$60 p/month)
- Training facilities, commuting, drinks & food expenses (~$25 p/month)
We also leverage local businesses and our network for sponsorships that help cover costs for additional training camps, clinics or seasonal events.
-
How frequently will we play?
We play year round so our target is 1 tournament (4-6 games) and 1 scrimmage per month. We are also open to playing more scrimmages with surrounding club teams if there are no commitment conflicts with our players or field resources.
-
Will there be a lot of traveling?
It's a pain point we're pursuing to resolve based on feedback from the community. The pursuit is to represent Hurricane, Utah's baseball athletes and host year-round competitions.
That said, we will have instances of scrimmages or weekend tournaments that will require traveling, ranging from Mesquite to Beaver to Kanab.
-
What if they're committed elsewhere?
Our main driver is to bring the talent back to Hurricane. Therefore, if our practice days do not interfere with your current commitments, then you are always welcome to join us during our practice days.
-
What experience is required?
As long as your kid has some athleticism and a drive to play, we can coach their conditioning and increase their confidence to perform within an engaging team environment (what we offer can proactively impact other sports they may also play).
-
What about private lessons?
This requires a customized program as it depends on the player's age, skill level, and results they seek.
Roughly $90-$130 per hour with a minimum commitment of 3 sessions.
Our priority is to simplify and provide you a scalable value that enhances your mindset, practice, and gameplay.
